Soul Suite
The Soul Suite http://www.soulsuite.co.uk/ on Queens Square opened in 2005 and describes itself as "A welcome breath of fresh air for Blackpool ... a venue which caters for lovers of Soul and Motown Music and more importantly customers who have by and large wanted a venue free from young disco and house music devotees." On nice evenings a small crowd will often gather outside in the Square to enjoy the music and sometimes a bit of dancing.

Queen Street
Queen Street closed following a fire at the Walkabout pub on Queen Street. The fire had broken out around 5.30 am. Some 12 hours later the emergency services are still at the scene. BBC News item: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-22964655 Lancashire Fire Rescue reported: "The Service was called to a fire at 1-9 Queen Street Blackpool at a night club called the Walkabout. The fire occurred on 19th June 2013 at 05:20 hours. Due to the geographical position of the building and its layout it created circumstances that were difficult for firefighting operations. The building was constructed in the late 1800s to early 1900s, and consists of a basement and four floors. The building is attached to neighbouring properties and has a pitched slate roof, it is in a heavily built area with very close proximity to other premises. The building is used as a night club but also has sleeping accommodation on its upper floors. The fire was attended by 15 fire appliances. There were a number of surrounding buildings that needed protecting and there was a real possibility that the fire could spread to these. Due to this a high number of Breathing Apparatus (BA) teams were used. No persons were injured at the incident and the incident was resolved successfully. http://www.lancsfirerescue.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Item-14-appendix-1.pdf
