Allandale
View across the Forth and Clyde Canal towards Allandale. I was approached by a male swan while taking this, obviously hoping for a handout. The rest of the family was sleeping on the opposite bank.

Allandale Cottages
The northern side of a neat row of workers' cottages on the B816 - here there are 46 in four blocks. They were built in 1907 by John G Stein to house workers from his nearby Castlecary Fireclay Works Image They were named after his son, Allan. Built from red sandstone, with pitched slate roofs, the S row cottages are similar, but without the dormer windows. https://canmore.org.uk/site/150976/castlecary-allandale-cottages. Allandale
"A row of workers' cottages on either side of the road, built in 1907 by John G Stein to house workers from his nearby Castlecary Fireclay Works (NS 7975 7845, NS77NE/56, operated 1902 to 1980), and named after his son, Allan. Both ranges are single-storeyed with attics, are built from red sandstone, and have pitched slate roofs. The N range's attics have south-facing dormer windows". Quoted from RCAHMS.
