Forth and Clyde Canal, Bainsford Bridge
This lock wasn't installed when the canal was originally built. It may well be a replacement for the missing one near Camelon. See Image The 1.25,000 map dated 1956 shows the Camelon lock as still in situation but no lock at Bainsford Bridge.

This modern lock replaces one a little further downstream Image, in order to lower the canal level when Bainsford swing bridge was rebuilt as a fixed bridge.
