George Street, Doune
In the 17th century Doune stood at the intersection of several drove roads between the Highlands and the cattle markets in Stirling and further south. It was also the place where Thomas Cadell set up his pistol factory in 1646. It is said that a Doune pistol fired the first shot in the American War of Independence
