Springbank Mills, Dunblane
The less photogenic side. Now flats and greatly changed. The demolition and gutting was almost total.

Springbank Mills, Dunblane
Owned by Wilsons Ltd and now converted to flats but changed out of all recognition. A new photo would be informative. Was home to a Robey class E horizontal cross compound steam engine with Arca extraction gear on the low pressure side. Scrapped 1984. There was also a water turbine on site (I photographed that in 1983)

Converted woollen mill
Former woollen mill, specialised in the manufacture of tartan. For a similar view of the mill in 1982 (before conversion) see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/414392.

Springbank Mills (converted)
There is very little recognisable left of the mills as I saw them in 1982 & 1983. The site was derelict by 1983 and we just walked in to see the steam engine and water turbine.

Springbank Mills, Dunblane
The mill was converted to apartments and completely changed beyond all recognition. In happier days it was home to this Robey horizontal cross compound drop valve engine. It was built in 1927 and was good for 150 horsepower at 120 rpm. The flywheel was 10 foot diameter and drove by cotton ropes. Interestingly it also had extraction of process steam between the cylinders with an 'Arca' regulator. The mill also had water turbines.
