Northern Glass Cone, Alloa
This close-up view was gained courtesy of an obliging adjacent site-holder. It clearly shows the unusual octagonal stone base on which the main brick cone is erected. This had been built round as processes were modernised, but it now stands cleared to show its original condition. In the background is a silo belonging to the ongoing glass production facility.

Alloa glassworks
View from The Shore along the River Forth. This was once a busy commercial foreshore, including wharves for loading coal from the nearby collieries, but the expansion of the glass factory has removed all trace of this.

Anyone for malted crisps?
This plant of course malts barley and not crisps, Crisp being the name of the family which founded the business.
