Starcross: Cockwood limekilns
Cockwood has a small harbour nearby, somewhat restricted since Brunel ran the South Devon Railway across its entrance in the 1840s. Here lime and culm would have been shipped for the kilns

This has got to be a bus driver's nightmare driving these double-deckers on narrow roads in Devon. This is at Cockwood Harbour, the bus is going past the telephone box and pub.

A First Great Western Paddington-Plymouth service heads down the River Exe, next station call Newton Abbot. Note the buttressing of the wall. The entrance to Cockwood harbour can be made out on the extreme right.
