Reed Hall
Part of the "large Italianate house built by Richard Thornton" https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1224136 in 1867. "His mansion, renamed REED HALL and used at first as a hall of residence, is now the university staff club, 1867, stately if clumsily detailed Italianate" (Cherry & Pevsner). This rusticated ground floor, the quoins, and the head on the keystone above the arch could all be on an Italian villa. No longer the staff club, Reed Hall is now a conference and event venue.
