A train for Okehampton arrives at Exeter St David's
The newly restored service to Okehampton commenced on 20th November. It is quite fitting that the train is seen here descending the bank from the Southern citadel of Exeter Central. Of course, a class 150 diesel multiple unit doesn't quite have the gravitas of the Southern Railway's Atlantic Coast Express, which previously ran on this route to Okehampton, and beyond, until 1964. However, it would be churlish not to celebrate this reinstated service to the town after it being without regular trains for nearly 50 years!
