Apartment building in former workhouse, St Thomas, Exeter
St Thomas was a separate entity to Exeter on the opposite side of the Exe until the end of the 19th century; the workhouse was based on a hexagon of outbuildings surrounding a main block with three arms. The crane is at the centre of one arm

Apartments in former workhouse, St Thomas, Exeter
This area was an exercise yard for the 450 inmates of this Victorian workhouse; the central block has three spokes at an angle of 120 degrees to each other, and the surrounding walls and buildings form a hexagon.

Grasmere Court, Exeter
Originally the St Thomas Union workhouse, it was built in 1836 on a hexagonal plan - this is the wing that faces SSE. It became Redhills Hospital in 1948, and is now flats. A hole in the wall
A somewhat impressive bus shelter. Situated on Exwick Road. Made of bricks and recessed into a granite wall. Almost vandal proof.
