Appledore from Instow beach
The church that can be seen in Appledore is St. Mary's Parish Church. The high ground above the town is Staddon Hill.
In the foreground Instow beach gives way to mud and sand and the River Torridge estuary.

A popular family activity.
These participants were probably practising for the World Championship Crabbing Contest which was scheduled for two days later.
This is the estuary of the River Torridge with Instow on the far bank.
