Work is taking place on the roof of the listed Rambler Cottage https://www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1147051 . The stone pillar surmounted by an iron frame commemorates Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897, though I don't know what it is.
