Converted tanyard buildings: the low building with the grey roof now houses a car repair shop. Looking south. A much larger range of old tannery structures stands closer to East Street, behind the camera, now used for other purposes

Lettering on a stone on the downstream side of Mole Bridge at South Molton
The letters are only partially distinguishable.
The first letter could be the downstroke of a capital L, B or R. The next symbol appears to be a circle followed by the three letters "ook".
The next line is a capital B on its own and below this the date 1842.
