Lynton Town Hall
Opened in 1900, the building was funded by Sir George Newnes, the publisher. The building is Grade II* listed and was described by Pevsner as “an attempt at municipal architecture in a holiday spirit". The listing details state that it is a neo-Tudor design with Art Nouveau details and close-spaced timber-framing with decorative bracing in the Cheshire tradition. Quite a mix of styles but an imposing building!
