Bicclescombe Mill
View over the barrier on the stone floor. This shows the main vertical shaft and crown wheel with the single pair of stones in their tun beyond. The crown wheel operates the sack hoist although it appears the drive belt is missing. Bicclescombe mill is a preserved watermill with overshot wheel.

Bicclescombe Mill
This mill is theoretically operable but needs some attention before it can mill again. This view through the cage surrounding the mechanism shows the pit wheel, wallower, great spur wheel and the single stone nut. Although the hurst frame has capacity for a second pair of stones they are not in evidence.

Bicclescombe Mill, Ilfracombe
Preserved and workable water mill in Bicclescombe Park. The mill house is now a café. I was expecting it to be unlocked at 10:00 and then discovered it didn't open until 12:00. Fortunately a park worker spotted my plight and kindly opened it up so that I could get interior photographs. Although the overshot wheel is rather caged it is possible to get some decent views.
