Church path to Hall
This gate in a walled recess off the minor road at Herner gives access to the church path leading up to Hall. The gate is no longer used, although private access is still possible through a nearby field gate along the road directly opposite the chapel of St James.

Bishop?s Tawton: parkland at Herner
The parkland is part of the Hall estate. The mid-Victorian, neo-Elizabethan house, is barely visible through the trees, to the left. It has been a seat of the Chichester family for centuries. At Herner is a chapel of ease built in 1888
