The Green Man in Pilton Street
The pub organises a Green Man festival every year, temporarily closing the road for the day. The day was revived by the Reverend Anthony Geering, Rector of St Mary's Church, several decades ago. Above the door is the Latin 'Vir Viridis Vivit', which can translate as 'the green man lives' but can be more loosely taken as 'live a green life'.

The Chivenor air sea rescue helicopter beyond houses in Pilton Street on Green Man Day
The last operational sortie conducted by the RAF landed at 1230 on Sunday, 4th October 2015. The rescue service is now operated by the Bristow Group.
