Bridge footings, Church Road, Alphington
The neatly shaped stone (from a local quarry at Pocombe Image) once supported a railway bridge for the branch line to Ide and Longdown from Exeter. The A377 follows the route of the line to the A30. There was a railway halt on the line on the north side of Church Road, lost to road and other development

Old Milestone by the B3123, Church Road, Alphington
Carved stone post by the B3123 (was A38), in parish of EXETER (EXETER District), Church Road, Alphington, between Blenheim Road and Legion Way, built into wall of garden, in recess, on South side of road. Exeter granite facets, erected by the Exeter turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : 9 / Miles to / Chudleigh / 1 / Mile to / Exeter : : 177 / Miles / to / London : : 1 / Mile to / Exeter / 9 / Miles to / Chudleigh : Grade II listed.
