Quarry Lane, Exeter
The area around this road was formerly used for quarrying Heavitree stone, a hard-wearing sandstone used in many buildings in Exeter. A lesser quality stone was also quarried, and can be found in many boundary walls in the city. Hence the name Quarry Lane
