Thatched cottages, Northlew
As the listed building description says, "it is possible that one cottage had some form of light industrial use in the C19 judging from its long bay window on the 1st floor" http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1147506&searchtype=mapsearch .

Problem solved, Northlew
The drastic action advised at
Image has obviously worked. Seven years on, this notice reads, in part, "through your help we no longer have a problem with dog mess". I don't recall seeing a dog anywhere in the village on this visit, though I did meet a very friendly cat - see

Dogs beware
Fairly drastic action, unlikely to be condoned by the RSPCA, is recommended as the solution to a familiar canine problem that has arisen at Northlew churchyard. "Please do not let your dog be one of the offenders. Please bag it and bin it".

Post Office, Northlew
"In 2008, Northlew lost its village shop, post office and telephone" http://www.villagesos.org.uk/village/northlew?project=all-activity . The village now has post office services on two mornings a week, plus a community-run shop, and has activated the telephone box, "the first village in the UK to do so".
