Bullow Brook valley
Taken from the A3124 which forms a modern by-pass across the southern side of the village, this view looks across Shute Lane towards the shallow valley, which drains to the left (eastwards). On the further slopes is Vellow Moor.

Shute Lane
This track, which is bisected by the modern A3124, drops downhill from the centre of Winkleigh towards field on the slopes of the Bullow Brook valley. Could the name imply a watercourse of some sort? This northern part is shaded by trees; beyond the main road (behind the camera) it is more open.
