‘The Book Shop’ on the right was once the drive through to the tannery yard at the rear of the premises; one of three tanneries in 19th century Crediton. The works finally closed in 1964. On the left can be seen the entrance to the Congregational Chapel

Ernest Jackson, Crediton
Manufacturer of medicated confectionery and vitamin pastilles dating back to 1817 and now part of the Kraft Foods Group following its takeover of Cadburys. I was rather taken by the red brick building with the loading door on the first floor and a round feature that might have once held a clock (just my own guess).
