Burlescombe: the Grand Western Canal at Ayshford
Looking north east; the canal is maintained as a country park managed by Devon County Council. Towpaths between Tiverton and Lowdwells – near Greenham – provide 11 miles of rural walks. Note Ayshford Chapel left, half hidden in the shadow of a tree. Built in the late middle ages, it was restored in 1847 and now belongs to the Friends of Friendless Churches

Grand Western Canal at Ayshford
A narrowboat makes it way from beneath the bridge at Ayshford. On the left is the C15 Ayshford Chapel http://www.heritagegateway.org.uk/Gateway/Results_Single.aspx?uid=95867&resourceID=5 , which "forms part of a very attractive group of buildings associated with Ayshford Court".
