RAF Dunkeswell: a tour of a WW2 airfield - Turret Trainer (8)
Most bomber airfields had single turret trainers, a building equipped to train air gunners, and for air gunnery practice. A typical aircraft gun turret (with guns removed) allowed deflection shooting to be practised against projected moving images of enemy aircraft displayed on a target screen. It is now used as a furniture store outlet on the industrial estate. Further details: https://www.historyofsimulation.com/flexible-gunnery-simulators/ Image
