Sudbury Lawn, now the Job Centre in Honiton High Street
Sudbury Lawn has a plaque erected by the Rotary Club, marking historic sites in Honiton. "Juanita Maxwell Philips, 1880-1966, lived in this house. As a follower of Emmeline Pankhurst, she was jailed six times for her activities between 1908 and 1912 protesting the cause of votes for women. She was Mayor of Honiton eleven times.Juanita was a Poor Law Guardian, a supporter of the Townswomen's Guild, the Women's Institute and chairman of the Devon Council for Women. A little theatre was built behind the house where productions were held in aid of charities. The theatre is now a chapel."
