This carpet factory at Gamberlake was established in the 1930s and is a substantial undertaking. This view from a path through the site shows three metal chimneys and a covered bridge linking two parts of the site.

Axminster Carpets Ltd
Carpet manufacture started in Axminster in 1755 but in 1835 the looms from Whitty's factory were taken to Wilton. The industry recommenced in the 1930s with a modern factory at this site in Gamberlake. This is a large site but parts appear to be traversed by paths used by the public.

Railway from Axminster towards Honiton
Viewed from the southwest end of platform 2 at Axminster railway station looking along the West of England Main Line. Next station ahead is Honiton, about 16km (10 miles) away. In March 2017, all scheduled passenger trains on this route from London Waterloo are operated by South West Trains.
