Jurassic Coaster bus near Axminster Railway Station
Part of the First fleet, double-decker bus number 37581 on route X51 to Dorchester via Lyme Regis and Bridport approaches the station bus stop. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5306931 The Jurassic Coast in Dorset and East Devon is a World Heritage Site. The Site spans 185 million years of geological history, coastal erosion having exposed an almost continuous sequence of rock formation covering the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. At different times, this area has been desert, shallow tropical sea and marsh. Fossilised remains of various creatures that lived here have been preserved in the coastal rocks.
