The building is beside a large car park, convenient for the beach. The growth of lichen on the roof is a reminder of the clean, damp air.

Redevelopment of Underfleet car park
As part of the regeneration of Seaton, work has started on the new “Seaton Jurassic” visitor centre that will tell the story of the Jurassic Coast, and the landscape, geology and geomorphology around Seaton. The centre is being built on the Underfleet car park, a two minute walk from the seafront, adjacent to the new Tesco store and the Seaton Tramway terminus. The project has secured over £3million of funding from three local authorities: East Devon District, Devon County and Seaton Town councils; two grants from the Heritage Lottery Fund, a grant from the Coastal Communities Fund and a donation from Garfield Weston Foundation. Building work started in September 2014 and the centre is expected to open late in 2015. In 2012 Devon Wildlife Trust was appointed as operator for the centre. The town’s existing Tourist Information Centre has been demolished to make way for the new centre and is now using a temporary facility adjacent to the Seaton Tramway terminus. The Tourist Information Centre will be located in the new centre once it opens in summer next year.
