Washington House
House on Castle Hill. A plaque by the gate to the building reads: "Washington House 1845. Formerly Cliff House, built as a two storey house by local builder Joseph Good in 1845. Good later donated a foot of his garden to the local authority to facilitate a local road to Beer. Some time in the 1920s/1930s a third floor was added to create the Cliff House Hotel. During World War 2, the hotel was used as an army officers' billet. After the war, the hotel was sold to a Mr Ted Washer, who renamed it Washington House."
