Holiday camp, Seaton
Lyme Bay Holiday Resort, closed in 2008, sits next to the disused Lyme Bay Holiday Camp (Image]), which closed in 2000. The Seaton Tramway ( http://www.tram.co.uk ) runs around two sides of the perimeter, with views into the site from the top deck of trams. The site/s have been operated both together and separately in the past, with owners including Warners and Haven, and finally Hollybush Hotels. See http://www.postcardnostalgia.co.uk/west_country/seaton/seaton_holiday_camp.htm for old postcards and http://www.butlinsmemories.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-5559.html for a forum discussion. There are photos inside the site at this gallery ( http://family.webshots.com/album/558854151NrolZA ) and on Derelictplaces (registration needed) ( http://www.derelictplaces.co.uk ) In March 2008 Tesco bought the land. Closure of the resort will take away the town's main employer and holiday accommodation, as well as the only nursery and leisure facilities. ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/7302367.stm )
