1-10 Southernhay West, Exeter (1)
Local builder-architect Matthew Nosworthy graced the centre of Georgian Exeter with a number of very high quality terraces to rival many of those in London. They are distinguished by their expanses of handsome red brick, stucco bands, arched ground-floor windows and Coade stone doorcases (Image]). The Southernhay terraces, designed in 1789, are his first recorded works. Grade II* listed. Most, if not all, houses were converted to offices in the 1970s, finding particular favour with local estate agents and solicitors.
