Church Road, Colaton Raleigh
From just inside the churchyard, with a brick gatepost surmounted by sandstone on the immediate left, and a section of the fine wall shown more clearly in Image http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-86238-boundary-wall-and-gates-to-north-and-east . On the left beyond is Church Cottage, with thatch eyebrows on the first floor http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-86234-church-cottage-colaton-raleigh .

Churchyard wall, Colaton Raleigh
Fine walls are one of the most distinctive features of the village; see the listed cob wall shown in Image and Image http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-86242-boundary-walls-approximately-35-metres-no . This one is composed of cobbles rather than cobs, with brick and ornamental tile coping http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-86238-boundary-wall-and-gates-to-north-and-east . As the listed building description mentions and the image illustrates, the wall steps "down a little regularly as the ground level drops" and the coping "is supported on a series of close set brick corbels with rounded soffits".

Footpath to Colaton Raleigh
Almost 9 pm, but still enough light to show Colaton Raleigh Footpath 3 heading along a green lane towards the village, with red campion and hogweed the most conspicuous flowers.
