Entering Waltham Abbey
A group of Wingate & Finchley supporters on a charity walk from the Abrahams Stadium to Waltham Abbey's Capershotts ground pass the sign welcoming visitors to Waltham Abbey - Last resting place of King Harold II, who died at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Quite how much of King Harold made it this far or even if it was the right body, is open to debate. Contemporary accounts suggest that his body, along with many of his close entourage, was hacked to pieces which must have rendered identification very difficult. 12 supporters took part in the charity walk including myself, raising over £2000 for the Jewish Blind and Disabled charity. The supporters intend to continue with further charity events in the future.
