The Power House, Gunpowder Mill
The offices of Hill who appear to have built the fairly new adjacent estate. This used to be the access road to it but it has now been blocked and the only route is up Beaulieu Drive and a new bridge across the flood relief channel.

Royal Gunpowder Factory Waltham Abbey - locomotive
This is Avonside narrow gauge (18") locomotive No. 1748 of 1916 and built for Woolwich Royal Arsenal. It later worked at Bicton Woodland Railway (hence BWR on the cabside) and was then moved to Waltham Abbey. In 2011 it was moved on loan for restoration and use on a planned railway at Crossness Pumping Station. This is still a work in progress and the engine has yet to run.

Royal Gunpowder Factory, Waltham Abbey
One of the older steam incorporating mill buildings. The beam engine house is on the left and the lower building houses several larger display items. The former gunpowder factory is a very important and historic site and we are fortunate that so much of it has been turned over for museum use.

The Royal Gunpowder Mills
On part of "The Old Establishment" (a phrase coined by distinguished engineer John Rennie), these foundations are all that remain from a 19th century mill. It was built on the site of two water powered stamp mills, along Millhead Stream.
