Former Cheshunt College, Cheshunt (east side)
What was to become the non-conformist theological institution Cheshunt College moved to Cheshunt in the 1790s from Wales. It subsequently expanded and came to occupy the buildings and tower seen here which date from 1870. In 1905 the College moved to Cambridge. From 1909 its former premises in Cheshunt were used by the Church of England's Bishop's College until the latter's closure in 1968. Since 1972 they have been occupied by Broxbourne Borough Council which also occupies the newer buildings on the right along with a complex of newer buildings to the left.
