Entrance to former Leith Citadel station
The station was built in 1846 and has a Grade B listing. Until 1868, it was the Leith terminus of a line from Canal Street Station in Princes Street via the Scotland Street Tunnel. Later it became part of the North British Railway Co. line that ran for three miles from Waverley Station via Abbeyhill, Easter Road, Leith Walk, Powderhall (up to 1917), Bonnington and Junction Road. It closed to passenger traffic in 1947, continuing as a goods line until the 1970s. The building is now a youth centre. The name derives from its proximity to a fort of that name built during the rule of the Commonwealth in the 1650s.

Site of West Old Dock. Despite appearances the building in the background is not WASP HQ from Gerry Anderson's Stingray - it is the home of much of the Scottish Government's civil service.

Rails of West Old Dock
On Commercial Quay there is this remnant from when this was part of Leith Docks. The West and East Old Docks are now filled in and are car parks or building sites while the warehouses have been converted to offices and business premises.
