Springfield Cottage, Leith Walk
Easily passed by unnoticed because of its sunken situation, this charming little cottage dates from the time when houses on Leith Loan, as it was known, were built on the 'Low Walk', the ditch belonging to the rampart created between Leith and the Calton Hill to defend the town in the 17th century.
