Grange on Airngath Hill
An Edwardian mansion, archictected by Scott and Campbell and built 1904-1907 for Henry Moubray Cadell. He was a geologist, owner of Bonnytoun and other local coalmines, one of the instigators of the 1919 Scottish Spitzbergen mining expedition and later deputy Lord Lieutenant of West Lothian. An A-listed building Grange is in a secluded position behind trees but is glimpsed here from the banks of the Union Canal.

Grounded
Not often seen on the ground, this treecreeper was finding food in the moss. Note the strong tail feathers which are used as a prop when climbing trees.

Boundary between West Lothian and Falkirk Districts
A fairly new double fence has been erected on Airngarth Hill, possibly with a view to planting a new shelterbelt. The fence runs along the line of the district boundary. West Lothian is to the left (south) in this view.
