Road through Bents and Stoneyburn
The sign on the lamppost states 'humps' 1645yds. The number of speed bumps on this stretch of road prompted letters for and against in the local paper.

Short Steep Ridge by Cannop Poultry Farm
From looking at old OS maps it seems that this is just an odd natural feature. It looks like there was once a tip just to the East, where the poultry farm now is. The poultry farm is relatively new, not being present on 1950s maps. Strangely the section of the main road that runs through Stoneyburn and Bents, from its junction with the A-road West of here and the edge of the village, is called Cannop Crescent, despite the place-name Cannop appearing on no maps from the 1950s back.

The Breich Water near Black Hill
This stream has seen a marked improvement in water quality. The area is well known for mining and the river shows signs of pollution, but recently the return of fish has been adequate to support a resident heron. A public access footpath runs on the north bank of the river.
