Cramond
Beside the Almond. As part of a week where I got more hassle from the fellow public than ever before, I was chased here by a waitress who accused me of not paying. Paying once for an overpriced poor tea is one thing......

River Almond, Cramond
The site of the ferry which used to link with the coast path to Queensferry. It did not survive the 2001 foot and mouth epidemic (there was no foot and mouth within a 100km of here). It never reopened and the landing stages have gone. Today you can walk in from Cramond Brig.

Cottages at Cramond
Ostensibly entirely traditional fishing-village cottages, they date from c1780-90 and were built for workers at the nearby mills on the River Almond. After years of decline they were recast and converted in 1959-61 by Ian Lindsay & Partners as a commission from Edinburgh Corporation. The Listing description includes the comment: “His work at Cramond is acknowledged as an early and relatively successful attempt to restore the architectural core of a village in decline.” Listed Category B.
