Ghost sign in Damdale, Peebles
A 'ghost sign' on a cottage in Damdale, reading 'Thom Howie Provision Merchant'. This part of the town was near several woollen mills (March Street, Damcroft and Damdale) so presumably a local shop would have been in demand.

The footbridge provides a pedestrian shortcut across the Eddleston Water between Northgate and March Street. The flats in the background are on the north side of March Street, one block new enough not to be on the maps yet.
