Former railway footbridge, Peebles Hydro
This bridge in the hotel grounds used to span the Peebles - Galashiels line, closed in 1962 and now filled in at this point. The bridge has recently been repainted red and green, and was visited by a group walking 20 bridges of Peebles in an event held by Peebles Arts Festival.

Passengers are warned not to stand up when passing under the bridge
This leafy tract of ground was once the route of a railway line from Peebles to Galashiels, opened in October 1864. As it severed the grounds of the Peebles Hydropathic establishment, first built in 1881 and completely rebuilt in 1907 after a disastrous fire, this graceful footbridge was erected across the railway. When the railway was closed in February 1962, the track removed and its cutting infilled to the level of the surrounding ground, the bridge was allowed to remain as an unusual decorative feature.
