Haddington was bypassed a long time ago. Before that this was the main road in from Edinburgh. It is lined by solid victorian villas.

Old toll house
At the west end of Haddington, St Laurence Cottage on the B6471, 33 West Road, is Listed 'C' - 18C single storey house, originally a tollhouse. There are later additions to the right and rear of the building. The tollhouse was on the Great Post Road from Edinburgh.
