Fountainbridge Telephone Exchange
Located at 116 Fountainbridge EH3 8DJ, this TE, which was built between 1948 - 1952, has the code ESFOU and serves 12,447 residential and 1,010 non-residential premises in Fountainbridge plus Bruntsfield and Tollcross nearby. It used to have FOUntainbridge numbers until the late 1960s, but now has 0131-221, 228 and 229 xxxx numbers. Also, it used to provide operator services for some years. Mobile phone aerials can be seen on the roof of this building, whilst Gardners Crescent can be seen to the right of this photo. It was made a Category B listed building in January 1998.

Built in 1859 as flats for 96 artisans with polychrome brickwork and arranged around a central quadrangle. Restored c1990.

Rosemount Buildings, Gardner's Crescent
Mid-Victorian dwellings for the artisan class, built by a housing association in 1859. Entrances at its four corners give access to a delightfully kept inner court belied by the rather austere exterior. The block was modernised by the Fountainbridge Housing Association in 1980.
