Hamilton House
A double L-plan house built in 1626 by Sir John Hamilton. The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland records several alternative names that hint at some of its history: Magdalens' House, The Barracks, and Dower House. It now belongs to the National Trust for Scotland but is let and not open to the public. See also Image] and http://canmore.rcahms.gov.uk/en/site/53682/details/prestonpans+hamilton+house/

South Elevation of Hamilton House
The south elevation of Image], on Preston Road, wouldn't fit in the viewfinder from the other side of the road. The initials of the original laird, John Hamilton, are above the left window, and above the right window is KS, presumably his wife. Both sets of initials, are entwined, with the date 1626, above the middle window. See also Image
