John Muir mural
Prestonpans has many interesting murals about the town, plus a mining museum and interesting old buildings and graveyards.
This mural is of John Muir who was born in East Lothian in Dunbar.

John Muir has dismounted and is enjoying a pint outside 'The Goth' pub in Prestonpans, across the road from here. At bottom left is an inscription:
John Muir, born in Dunbar in 1838.
Sent forth an idea which inspired
the nation of America and indeed
the world for generations to come.
The least we can do is to stand him
a pint of Fowlers.

Old West Burial Ground, Prestonpans
The burial ground is Listed Category B principally for the quality of these carved gravestones. These were incorporated in the wall in the early 19th century and the earliest ones date back to at least 1644.
