Legs, unlike buses don't need tarmac
Runners! Not so bad this time - The Avenue and part of Edinburgh Road was left open for once, so nearly everyone was able to get out - they even allowed folk to escape from within the cordon. The main inconvenience was the loss of buses. It would be a while before any runners passed though - their route was Meadowmill - Longniddry - Gosford - Port Seton - Cockenzie High Street - Prestonpans - Musselburgh Racecourse. One website claimed it was a picturesque race around the sights of Edinburgh.
