Newbridge Bowling Club
The club was founded in 1907. Note the groundsman already mowing the green - in mid-February! This is an ominous sight for those of us who have not got to grips with our own lawns since the last grass-growing season, but no doubt a welcome one to bowlers.

Old Liston Road
This road once ran through to Kirkliston, but late 20th century road and airport developments have made it a minor road, with correspondingly low traffic. It intersects with another dead end which was formerly the main road between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Newbridge Inn
Sited on what was once the main road between Edinburgh and Glasgow, the inn bears the date 1683 above its door. The date in the crowstepped gable, however, reads 1895.

Royal Bank of Scotland
A dull brown brick blockhouse that reminds me of prisons, guardhouses and low-budget public conveniences. It sticks out like a sore thumb beside the traditional houses which line the street beside it.

Extreme Traffic Calming
The gaps here on either side of the central structure are just 2 metres wide. They effectively prevent heavy goods vehicle taking a short cut from the industrial estate through the village of Newbridge to the A89.
