Lawhead Burn above Penicuik
The burn flows through beech woods above the edge of town.

Beech lined field
Grazing land between the Pentland Hills and Penicuik. The field is suffering a bit of a plague of docks. Once somebody, probably the owner of the Penicuik Estate planted a lot of beech trees. During May they are quite a spectacle.

Aqueduct crossing the Lawhead Burn, Penicuik
The Talla Aqueduct carries water approximately 56km from the reservoir in the Tweeddale hills to Alnwickhill water treatment works in south Edinburgh - see http://www.scotlandsplaces.gov.uk/search_item/index.php?service=RCAHMS&id=276399 for more details. Image shows the aqueduct crossing the nearby Grain Burn.
