Town Centre Bus Stops at Penicuik
Penicuik is a town on the A701 midway between Edinburgh and Peebles. It lies on the west bank of the River North Esk, east of the Pentland Hills. The town's name, which is pronounced 'Pennycook', is derived from Pen Y Cog, meaning "Hill of the Cuckoo".

Imrie Place
The car park belongs to a Lidl supermarket. It is just off St Kentigern Way, a sort of bypass to John Street, which is now pedestrianised and moribund. Imrie Place is the street beyond the car park. (Be warned that Lidl has introduced a system whereby you have to scan your receipt and then type your car number into the scanner, or you will be charged £90 for parking.)

41-47 John Street
This terrace dates from about 1845, and is a Category B Listed Building. The unusual lozenge glazing is said to have been made by a French prisoner of war, but this seems doubtful as the building postdates the end of the Napoleonic War by some 30 years. Fortunately the glazing has not been tampered with, so the building retains its unity ands symmetry.
